After introducing himself with the reflective “Intro,” Nigerian singer songwriter Kidd Carder switches gears completely on “Gobe.” If his debut was the mission statement, “Gobe” is the trouble that comes with chasing it. The title alone does the talking in Nigerian street slang “gobe” means wahala, drama, or a situation gone sideways. Kidd Carder leans into that energy with a record that’s louder, faster, and built for movement.

The production flips from the moody space of “Intro” to full bounce. Percussion is crisp, the log drums knock, and the melody stays catchy without feeling forced. Vocally he sounds looser and more confident, like an artist who got the nerves out on track one and is now ready to play. He sings about love turning to chaos, money bringing new enemies, and the kind of nights where one decision can spin everything out of control. It’s personal but still danceable, which is a tough balance to hit this early in a career.

“Gobe” shows Kidd Carder isn’t trying to stay in one lane. He can do introspective and he can do detty. Putting this out right after “Intro” tells you he understands pacing. He gave you his story, now he’s giving you the soundtrack for when life gets messy. If “Intro” was for the headphones, “Gobe” is for the speakers. Two tracks in and he’s already proving he has range, pen, and an ear for what moves a room.
